TIKI DESIGN STUDIOS
Hello my name is Mike Burrow, I am the owner and primary designer of Tiki Design Studios. I have an Associates degree in Architecture from MATC in Madison, and have been designing homes for almost 10 years. I have worked on projects as small as a one room addition, up to 6000 plus sq. ft. houses. I truely enjoy taking people's ideas and helping them design a home that fits there needs, wants, and budget. I have designed upwards of 500 houses, plus lots of remodeling and addition projects, which makes me confident in what I do. I am flexible with my schedual to make it easier to meet with you and get the design process started. Plans to open an office in the area with more services are in the works.
House Plan Design Process
Out of Area
The whole process can take place without meeting. It will all be done though emailing or faxing. I also have software we can use to send drafts back and forth. I am more than willing to work with you if you do not live in the area.
Local customers
First step is a sit down with you at a convenient location to get your ideas and thoughts, whether they are thoughts in your head or ideas on paper. From there I will draw a preliminary floor plan to get things started. After you have had time to review the floor plan we can meet again to go over changes or new ideas. There may be a round of changes done through emailing back and forth or talking over the phone. I have multiple ways of emailing the house plans to you during the design process so that we would not have to meet after every round of changes, although I am willing to do so if you would like.
After we are close to a floor plan that meets your needs for room sizes and layout, we will move onto the foundation and elevation plans. Finaly we will end with going over details, building specifications and any other information you or your builder would like on the blue prints. Any questions on the process please contact me. Software
Curently Tiki Design Studios uses software called Softplan. It is a residential based design program that allows us to design in 3D, so you or your customer can actualy see what you will be getting, before you even break ground. Information about the software can be found at www.softplan.com.
Softplan has a unique tool that you can download onto your computer, at no cost to you, where I can send you a file of your house plan and you can take measurements, add notes, and highlight items and send it back to us for changes.
